Description
The National Coal Board Opencast Executive in South Wales employed a CMA geologist whose duties were to design and supervise air flush and core drilling programmes for a number of coal deposits in South Wales. The purpose of drilling was to quantify anthracite reserves that could be exploited by opencast methods. Two sites were subsequently worked and restored after coal extraction was completed.
