Richard Pagett has 19 years experience in the fields of environmental management, EIA, training, capacity building and organization strengthening with particular emphasis in the oil and gas sectors in Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. He is Principal Advisor to the Environmental Management and Training Company. His specific relevant experience includes:
Developing and delivering workshops to introduce new law on Environmental Impact Assessment;
Training on EIA and how to carry them out, review them, and specify requirements etc;
Developing a literature review (for an EIA of oil field development) of all the available environmental data pertaining to the southern Caspian Sea;
Environmental monitoring, environmental impact assessments, and assessing environmental situations with respect to existing environmental protection laws in the oil and gas sectors. This encompassed exploration, production and refining in Russia, Kazakstan and Azerbaijan;
Familiarity with international conventions and how to reflect them in national legislation;
Advising and training an Environmental Pollution Inspectorate on inspection techniques and reporting, as well as specifying and procuring monitoring and inspection equipment;
Briefing government ministries and agencies on EU environmental policy and laws.
