Description

Following an open tender process, CMA was selected by the EU Tacis programme to undertake the next stage of work advising the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) in Yereva, Armenia on mining law and institutional restructuriung issues.

A team of five CMA consultants and a similar number of local experts successfully completed Phase I of the work in 2001. The remaining work was broken down into three components executed over a seven-month period:

  1. Compiling a draft form development agreement for investors in the mining and energy sectors.
  2. Examining the impact of such development agreements on existing laws and regulations
  3. Advising the MIT on the incorporation of a single ministerial entity to administer natural resource investments and related developments. A workshop was organised in Yerevan to gather views on the draft proposals before completion of the final report.
