Brief CV

Chris is a member of Citrus and a senior associate of CMAL. He is an established health and safety expert with 28 years work experience. He began his career working for British Coal specialising in health and safety at two different mines & implementing the Dupont approach to safety leadership & culture. He then worked for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in the training team, before moving into consultancy work as an independent consultant. Since 2000 he has run his own company undertaking health and safety training, auditing and designing safety systems. He has a strong track record in strategic safety solutions, compliance advice & the delivery of bespoke cultural change programmes. Chris is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health & NEBOSH National Diploma holder. Key natural resources assignments include: ▪ H&S audits for European Nickel Plc on their mining operations in Turkey and Albania. Included developing H&S policies and procedures and training programmes for operations in Turkey. Undertook an independent investigation of a fatality in Albania and provided feedback and recommendations to the EN Board. ▪ Development of H&S documents for Jordan Energy and Mining Limited, including developing its H&S and Occupational Health Policy and procedures such as LTI reporting and Emergency Plan. Also included preparation of a Training Programme and outline courses. ▪ Development of H&S actions plan for Babcock Networks Ltd to assist it comply with current H&S legislation and best practise on it construction sites. Project included interviews with Head Office Staff and review of written procedures and audit of sample sites to assess compliance with internal procedures and legal requirements. ▪ HSSE Due Diligence Assessment of a series of oil terminals in the UK for BP UK Limited as part of the planned divestment of the facilities. Project involved a site audit of one terminal and review of H&S procedures, investigations and compliance with the directives from the different working groups assessing Buncefield.
