David Pedley is the Finance Director for Jordan Uranium Mining Limited and Jordan Energy & Mining Limited. David's career history includes: 1999 to 2006 Director, SMC Group Plc. SMC is an architecture and design practice, which is in the process of building an international group to provide a full design service for major projects. David's principal responsibility was for finance and for the acquisition programme. 1994 to 2000 Chairman, Hamilton Designs Limited. Hamilton Designs (HD) manufactured several ranges of office furniture at its factory in Chichester. A 60% interest in the company was purchased by Komfort Holdings Limited (see below) in late 1993. David was appointed Chairman in June 1994 to oversee the restoration of profitability and morale and to increase the capacity at the principal factory in order to secure the prospect of expansion. 1990 to 1995 Group Finance Director, Komfort Holdings Limited. Komfort Systems Limited is the market leader in the design and manufacture of office partitioning systems and the distribution of associated products, notably suspended ceilings. When purchased, it became the major constituent of the Komfort Holdings group. David joined the Company at a time when it was making large losses and its then parent was seeking a buyer. David co-led a management buy-out/buy-in financed by debt discounting and in which the whole equity was retained by the team. Subsequently, in conjunction with the Chairman, sold the Group to a trade purchaser realising a very substantial capital gain.As a result of the sale, left the Group in March 1995. 1989 to 1990 Finance Director, ML Aviation Limited. ML Aviation Limited, with a turnover in 1988/89 of £M50, was the largest subsidiary of ML Holdings PLC. It was a supplier of aerospace components, principally to the defence market. Responsible for financial control of the company and of three other subsidiaries together comprising the Defence Division. Having established that the order book was largely illusory (a victim of the ‘peace dividend’), prepared down-sizing plans which accommodated the reduction in activity of more than 50%. 1985 to 1989 Financial Director, Country Casuals Limited. Financial Director, Viyella Ladieswear Retail. Both companies are retailers of ladies' fashion-wear. Each had its own creative, merchandising and retail operational managements but with common Managing and Finance Directors. They were subsidiaries of Coats Viyella PLC until Country Casuals was sold to a buy-in consortium. Turnovers for the two businesses totalled some £M31 from 154 outlets. 1972 to 1985 Philips Electronics 1984 to 1985 Financial Controller & Company Secretary. Luxram Electric Limited and Lita Display Limited Luxram had a small manufacturing plant and operated both in its own right and as a "fighting brand" for Philips Lighting. Lita specialised in architectural display lighting. The combined turnover was in the region of £M12. For marketing reasons, the companies were kept at arms length from the Philips group. Responsible for all financial and legal matters. Constant input to sales in a “commodity” trading environment. 1982 to 1984 Chief Accountant, Philips Consumer Group. Set up from scratch a team to perform all financial accounting and reporting for the six consumer product divisions with a total turnover of some £M400. 1981 to 1982 Management Accountant, Pye Limited. Input to sales and marketing. Directly responsible for pre- and post-sale service and for distribution. 1977 to 1980 Financial Accountant, Philips Service. An interesting environment, requiring control of 25 depots, 250 field service staff and 55,000 stock lines. Implemented a major order processing and stock control system and the first stages of a distributed depot control system. 1972 to 1977 Various Junior, Project and Training Posts Within the Philips Organisation 1967 to 1972 Professional Engineering Training Scheme, Marconi (then GEC) PLC “Sandwich” course, incorporating three years at university.
