Brief CV

Mark Mackintosh is a founding partner of Citrus Partners LLP and a Senior Associate of CMAL. Mark is an accomplished environmental professional, with high-level consulting experience. His key areas of expertise include environmental due diligence; environmental auditing; soil and groundwater contamination assessments, investigations and remediation; and team management and leadership. Mark has extensive experience of evaluating environmental issues and working with clients to develop strategies for managing their environmental liabilities. Much of his consultancy work has included the preparation of environmental documents which have been relied on by international financial or corporate investors, and have followed international best practice such as IFC, World Bank Group guidelines. Over his career he has directed and managed numerous environmental assessments. These have ranged from providing strategic level corporate advice with respect to environmental liabilities and expert support in legal cases, to directing global multi-site phase I & II due diligence projects or directing remedial projects and providing senior support to the client in negotiating close out of remedial actions at a site with the regulators. Mark has an MSc in Hydrogeology from University College London and a BSc in Mining Geology from Leicester University. He has been involved in a number of natural resources assignments including: ▪ EHSS Due Diligence of Mongolyn Alt’s Naryn Sukhait Coal Mine, Mongolia for EBRD. ▪ EHSS Due Diligence of Mongolyn Alt’s Eldev Coal Mine, Mongolia for EBRD. ▪ Preliminary desk based Environmental Due Diligence of Energybuild Group Plc for RWE. ▪ Critical assessment of groundwater models, associated with the Carbones del Cerrejón open pit coal mines, northern Colombia for Rio Tinto and Anglo American. ▪ High level review of proposed coal railway connecting Mongolyn Alt’s Naryn Sukhait Coal Mine to China for EBRD. ▪ Development of alternatives analysis for waste rock dumps, and critical review of hydrogeology and hydrology (including diversion designs) for Bisha Mining Shares Company, Eritrea. ▪ Review and development of key baseline studies supporting international EIA for Turkish Nickel development of a nickel acid heap leach project. ▪ Technical input to the groundwater and surface water impact assessments for the BTC pipeline in Georgia.
